Copyright in government information

Professor Anne Fitzgerald and Neale Hooper from QUT’s Open Access to Knowledge (OAK) Law Project discussed the impact of Crown copyright in Australia. Crown copyright is a copyright doctrine that has developed in the Commonwealth nations that affords protection to works created or first published by a State, Territory or Federal government. It also includes works created under their direction or control. The provisions of Crown copyright are outlined in Part VII of the Copyright Act 1968. Anne went on to talk about Dr Terry Culter’s discussion point about information stock and information flows in an innovation system.
